Harting Table is a nice tool for initiation while designing doublet.
However, there are few shortcomings: it did not include some newly developed materials with high index of refraction; and the indices in the table would not always match to actual material.
Therefore, we made some improvements and replaced the material indices with 70 common materials and made the modified Harting table after solving third-order aberrations. Hence, we can soon optimize the initial r value into pretty good results after choosing the desired material.
